Woodbridge Town 0 City 5

The U13 EJA City boys travelled up the A12 for a league match v Woodbridge. This was the 3rd game between the sides after a 1-1 draw at home and loosing on penalties after a 1-1 league cup semi final City knew the opposition in front of them.

The boys started in a 4-5-1 formation with Cam in goal, a back 4 with Max and Hayden in the centre and Luke and Shane as full backs. Tennie and Kyran started in midfield with Ed wide right and Joel wide left. Sam sat just behind lone striker Callum.

Chelmsford faced a strong wind in the first half, but were well in the game. Unfortunately Ed had to be replaced after 10 mins as it was clear he was still not quite 100% fit. Billy came on into the middle and Kyran pushed right.
City were unlucky not to score when Kyran played in Callum who lobbed the keeper into the goal, only to look back and see the linesmans flag signalling offside.

Woodbridge had a few shots, but could not find the target. City were looking good against the wind and on 20 mins Callum lost his marker in the box on the right, and crossed to find Joel who ran in from the left to finish from within the box. 0-1.
City doubled there lead when Callum was fowled outside the box. Tennie took the freekick that the Woodbridge keeper could only parry, and Hayden had raced in and was able to score from close range. 0-2.

Subs were made at halftime and Gabe, George and Jack replaced Hayden, Tennie and Luke.

The 2nd half with the wind was all City.

Citys 3rd came from a quick break from the back, left back Shane, through ball to Joel, who slid the ball through to Callum, who beat his marker and the Woodbridge keeper. 0-3

On 55 mins City scored a 4th. A cross was met by Callum who looked to have been fouled, but the ball came off Callum and fell to Joel on the left edge of the box who scored over the Woodbridge keeper. 0-4.

Hayden cam back on for Sam and Luke came on for the hard working Kyran. And with 2 mins to go Hayden slid a pass through the defence and Callum calmly took the ball in his stride and beat the oncoming keeper. 0-5

An impressive win against EJA league cup finalist. With a good clean sheet for the keeper and defenders, and 5 goals.
With 2 goals each Callum and Joel were both awarded the player of the match title.

Home to the other EJA cup finalist Felixstowe next week.
