u13s Miss out on Cup Final. Knocked out on pens in the Semi

The u13 EJA boys faced Woodbridge away in the semi final of the EJA league cup.
The boys were unchanged from last weeks county cup final win.
The first half was nearly all Chelmsford, with chances falling for both Sam and Calum up front, but the opening goal did not come until nearly 30 mins in when Billy played a good ball through to find Sam who this time beat the on coming keeper to score. 0-1.
The second half started badly for Chelmsford and a long Woodbridge ball found the striker who had seen Cam off his line and he precisely lobbed his shot over the back tracking Cam and into the City goal.
On 45 min Joel replaced Ed on the left wing.
City had more chances to win it, with a chance for Callum from close range going over the bar and a shot just missing the post.
Reece replaced Billy with a minute of normal time to go to refresh the midfield in extra time.
Both sides had chances where they should have won it. Woodbridge missing a one on one and James not quite getting his shot away early enough and nobody getting on the end of corners or an angled free kick outside the box.
So the semi went to pens.

A cruel way to go out, but you 'need to take your chances you win' and today we rode our luck at the back, and did not take enough chances going forward.
