#footballremembers

Woodbridge Town travelled to Melbourne Park for an EJA league game. Pre match both sides were pictured for a #footballremembers picture remembering the football game during World War 1.
City kicked off with a 3-5-2 formation with Cam in goal, Luke, Max and Hayden at the back, Joel & James on the wings, Tennie, Billy and George in midfield with Reece and Callum up front.
Both sides started with a number of errors including throw ins and basic through balls. But it was Woodbridge that took the early lead after about 10 mins when a deep corner bounced to the back post and the ball fell to a Woodbridge attacker whose shot across Cam found the net inthe far corner. 0-1.
From then on it was nearly all City. Billy had a shot well saved, and Joel struck a half volley just over. On 20 mins a corner by Joel was met by James and his shot found the corner of the net (deflecting off a Woodbridge defender.) 1-1.
The 2nd half saw all 5 subs make appearances with recently signed Jack making his debut, Kyran looking good in the middle of the park, Ed on the wing, Gabe at right back and Sam upfront. It was all City in the 2nd half, but the possession and territorial advantage did not really amount to enough chances. Both Hayden and Kyran had free kicks that were off target. Kyran did have a good shot with the Woodbridge keeper diving well to his right to deny a goal. Callum was fed the opportunity for a 1 on 1 but again the keeper came out well to make a save. Callum nearly got the winner with minutes to go when his shot did beat the keeper, only to see the ball skim off the crossbar. Even in the last 30 seconds a Callum shot was hooked and the ball agonisingly went wide.

A game that probably should have ended with a win, but the boys need to ensure they make more chances and when chances come they are more clinical.
