U13 EJA boys beat current County cup holders Stanway Villa in tight 0-1 win

City travelled to Stanway Villa in the 4th round of the county cup. The home team are a strong Colchester based team who had win the county cup at u12s last season.
Villa had the best of the first half with City finding it hard to string passes together and not being able to trouble the home keeper. City's defence of Cam in goal and Max, Luke and Hayden also looked strong and Villa only really had half chances.
The 2nd half saw City play better and more than match the Villa boys in the middle of the park. Tennie getting involved a lot and with the introduction of Kyran City started to press. Sam and Joel were replaced by Brandon and Kyran.
With the game heading towards extra time Reece held the ball up well and played in Callum who was strong up against his defender and was able to score past the approaching keeper for the only goal of the game. There were few other chances with 2 corners and a shot wide from Reece right at the end the only other real chances.
A hard fought win and a quarter final place in the Essex County cup. Games to be played 18th Jan 2015.
For the first time this year 2 boys were awarded the player of the match. Reece and James.

We go again next week in the league at home to Woodbridge Town.
