U13 Eja boys into rd 4 of County cup beating Bishop Stortford 1-3

The U13 boys were back to full strength for the trip to Bishop Stortford (who play on Coggeshall Fc pitch). Max was back after his broken arm and started in defence with Hayden and Luke. Joel and James started on the wings with Tennie holding and Bramdon and Billy in centre mid. Reece and Sam upfront. George was also back from injury and on the bench as was new signing Callum. Alex, Gabe, Kyran and Ed completed the squad.

The main pitch was very muddy but the City boys started much the stronger. Within 10 mins Joel was substituted after taking a knock to his knee when being takcled. Kyran replaced him and moved into midfield with Brandon pushing out wide.

The boys got a deserved opener when James was tackled. Tennie took the free kick that glanced off a defenders head and into his own goal. 0-1.
City were looking to play football where they could with Billy an Kyran playing good simple football in midfield.
City scored a 2nd when Luke slid a ball through to Reece who did really well to strengthen off his marker and take his chance scoring past the Storford stopper. A great strikers goal. 0-2
The half ended 0-2. And after returning to the pitch new Signing Striker Callum replaced Sam and Joel was recovered from his banged knee and replaced Brandon.

Stortford moved there stronger players to defence in the 2nd half but Callum nearly scored within his first 10 mins with a superb dummy to allow him to sprint onto the ball, but could not get his shot away well and the shot was saved.

On around 50 mins George replaced Billy. Good to see him back after his injury.

Good work down the left from Joel was rewarded with a free kick near the by line. Tennie took, a Stortford defender headed clear, but the ball fell to George from about 12 yards and he stabbed home his shot to score. 0-3

In the last 15 mins Ed and Gabe replaced James and Luke, and with 5 mind to go Stortford did get a goal back via a good passing move, however Cam and Gabe had chances to clear. 1-3

Stortford did have a scrambled chance to get a 2nd in th last minute but The defence were able to clear.

The score ended 1-3 and the boys are into rd 4 of the County Cup.

A good team performance with James having a good first half, Kyran and Bill in Midfiled and Max looking assured at the back. But for the goal of the game and his general strength to beat his man, score and running off the ball Reece was awarded player of the match.
