City 1 Maldon 4

The u13 Eja boys were down to just a squad of 13 today with Keeper Cam and right back Ed unavailable with defenders Max and George still injured the boys lined up with Gabe taking the gloves, Luke, Hayden and Alex at the back Joel and james on the wings with Tennie Billy and Brandon in midfield. Sam and Charlie up front.
Chelmsford dominated the first 20 mins but chances were not converted. Joel heading over twice, Billy, Sam and Brandon also missing chances. James was looking good on the right wing and some good corners were delivered with no end product. City did take the lead when Charlie's shot was well saved, only to find the feet of james who calmly controlled and passed back to Charlie who scored from close range. 1-0. maldon did have a few break away chances, but City should have gone into half time with a much bigger lead. But with the wind and hill with them 1-0 did not look like enough.
At half time the Maldon management took their team into the changing rooms and they must have had some words as after half time Maldon came right back into the game. Within minutes it was 1-1 and Maldon did convert a header from a corner to take the lead. Chelmsford introduced Reece and Kyran but were undone again with through balls that were converted in the last 10 mins. Well done to Maldon who took their chances to win the game. Lesson learnt for the boys that a 1-0 lead at half time does not guarantee a win come the final whistle.
