City u13s come back to beat Cockfosters AET in the Eja league cup

(Thanks to Brandons little sister Chloe for making notes for the report and stats today.)The U13 Eja boys were away at Cockfosters who actually play in Barnet. After the long trip the boys started without Max who continues to be sidelined while he recovers from his broken arm and skipper George was also unavailable due to injury. The boys lined up in 3-5-2 with Cam in goal, Luke, Hayden and Joel at the back, Brandon and James on the wings with Tennie, Billy and Sam in the middle with Charlie and Reece up top. The home team had the wind and hill behind them in the first half and they played the long ball well in the conditions. City were not able to get the ball away from the right wing and use the pitch. Cockfosters scored a messy first when Cam spilled a corner and the striker tapped in. 1-0. Cockfosters nearly got 2 from another corner that was headed off the line by Joel. The home team did get number 2 on 28 mins with a cross/shot went straight in on the wind.2-0.
Changes were needed at halftime and Ed replaced James on the right wing, with Alex replacing Brandon, moving Joel onto the left wing an Alex into left back.
With the wind behind and changes made City started to get back into the game. Kyran and Gabe were also introduced that allowed Luke to push into midfield.
City got on the score sheet on 64 mins when Charlie scored another goal direct from a free kick. 1-2.
With 3 minutes remaining Alex played a good ball through to Joel who did well to take the ball to the by line beating the on rushing keeper and Joel crossed to find Ed who could not miss. 2-2.
The game went to extra time and City saw off the first half with the wind in their faces. In the 2nd period of extra time a good ball by Charlie found Joel with only the keeper to beat, and the keeper could only drag down Joel to stop the goal at the expense of a penalty. The pressure pen fell to captain for the day Hayden who scored. 2-3 to win the tie.
A good game of football against 2 good teams. Motm options were Joel and Ed but for a captains performance Motm went to Hayden.
