The u13s were drawn away at Essex based Hornchurch for the first round of the EJA u13 league cup. The boys were without leading goal scorer Charlie who was replaced by Reece. Kyran also got a start in Midfield. Billy and Sam were linking up well and Billy had a good chance to take the lead inthe first half. As City had 5 subs to roll on and off and Hornchurch only had 1 City rotated players at fairly regular intervals. Brandon also went close to scoring in the first half and Hayden, Max, Luke, George and Cam looked good at the back. Ht 0-0.
City took the lead early in the 2nd half when a shot by Billy was parried by the keeper and Sam was cool and slotted in 0-1. Hornchurch were fortunate to take the tie to extra time as the ref awarded a penalty in the last minute for what looked like a late or high foot. The Hornchurch player converted to equalise and take the game to extra time. 1-1. Extra time soon came and went and the tie went to Pens.

2-1 Hornchurch. Tennie scored 2-2
3-2 Hornchurch then the hard working but tired looking Billy saw his pen saved. 3-2
Hornchurch went 4-2 up Sam the scored for City 4-3.
Hornchurch had to score to win. Cam saved. 4-3. Joel took pen 5 to take it to sudden death and scored. 4-4.
Hornchurch had another pen saved by Cam and George stepped up and scored the winning pen.
A game that went 30 mins longer than it should have, but very nail biting for the supporters.
Lots of good play today especially Sam and Billy but for his best game of the season Motm went to Hayden.
Boys now face Cockfosters in the next rd on 19th October who beat Buckhurst Hill 2-0 today.
