County Cup Loss Harsh
Blues broken hearted by last kick of match
Today we entertained Billericay Town Colts Clarets in the Cordell Essex County Cup, from the first whistle you could see the boys wanted the win today and the game was end to end with both teams having chances, it was Billericay that scored first midway through the first half, the boys game plan didn't change and they kept playing there passing game and started to have lot more of the game but couldn't convert any chances, Sadly the blues had a player taken to hospital after a fair 50-50 change between the Smallest and biggest players on the field, we all wish Sam who didn't shy from the tackle the Best and a speedy recovery .
The second half started as the first finished with the boys have the more of the game and chances went begging for the boys who just could find that equalizing goal they deserved, with the back line at times of Ronnie, Callum, Nathanael,Louis and Tom along with Matthew in goal Billericay didn't look like they would go further in front due to the boys hard work, this was supported by the midfield of trio of players Alfie, Kain, Callum, Noah, James and Lewis all playing well and the front Two of Bobby and Ewan causing trouble for Billericay.
As the blues put the opponents under pressure on 60mins a good run into the box was played square to James who shot was blocked and followed up by Bobby to poke the ball home to make it 1-1 Game on the boys stepped it up another level and could have scored a second goal but it just wouldn't fall for them.
as Extra time started the Blues kept the pressure on the opponents and again it still wouldn't fall for them for all their efforts, the game was then becoming stretched and Billericay could have snatched a winner and as the game looked to be going to pens and with the last kick of the match Billericay grabbed a winner to win 2-1 and break the hearts of the boys and with 4 seconds left the boys didn't have time to grab another.
Excellent game from both sides today, and the Blues once again have made me so proud to be their Manager from such an excellent performance from which they deserved so much more
Also a big thank you to the parents for their excellent support for the boys and all the help with taking down the nets and respect barrier and flags and putting away.
