City unlucky to lose a good game
Missed chances cost city
City under 14 whites traveled to Maldon to face a team sitting one place above them in the table. The reverse fixture saw two evenly matched sides go toe to toe with Saints edging it 2-1, and this was to be a similar story. City took the lead early with Emmanuel Tshinene
latching onto a long ball to calmly stroke past the advancing Saints keeper. Five minutes later Tshinene broke free once again, only this time the saints keeper managed to scramble the ball away injuring Manny in the process. City looked to hold on till half time, but before the break Maldon equalized. After failing to clear their lines the ball ricocheted across the city box and was thumped home from close range.
The second half began with both teams having chances and city once again took the lead through Jake Edmonds
, Drifting in from the wing to slam home at the far post. City then had two great chances to kill off the game first Nabeel Asghar
went close and then Emmanuel Tshinene
poked home only to be flagged offside. Almost immediately saints went up the other end and equalized once again.
With time running out Saints were awarded a free kick on the edge of the city box and just like the first game, Saints nicked it with a late strike.
A great effort but no points to be had this week.
