10 man City hit five away from home

Hard work brings three points for City

Chelmsford City under 14 whites had a road trip to Tillingham Tigers for their first away game of then new season. Having shown much promise in the opening defeat last weekend, city had to play out this one with only ten men. The game began at a good pace, on a very well maintained country pitch with both sides looking to grab the first goal of the game. City came close early on with Jack Moss providing two beautifully floated corners, both nodded over the bar from close range. However, not long after it was the hosts who took the lead, a spell of pressure being rewarded with the opener from inside the city box. Tillingham's lead soon doubled when city failed to clear their lines, and the visitors found themselves with an uphill task. Emmanuel Tshinene saw a great individual run and finish reduce the gap to a single goal, and just before half time the same player latched on to a pass from Evan Blundell to put the Whites level.
The second half began in the same manner as the first, and once again hesitation in the city box saw the Tigers go 3-2 up. This really seemed to liven up the Whites and they began to pass the ball better than in the first half. The two wide players, Jake Tanner and Owen Grimshaw began to see more of the ball and looked to put Tillingham on the back foot. City soon found themselves level again, this time Tom Hunter getting on the score sheet for the second week running. City now began to believe they could go on and win the game. The defensive unit began to look more organised with Luke Webster making some important challenges, and Captain Jamie Holloway sweeping up anything missed by his team mates and carrying the ball well up the pitch.
City then found themselves in front for the first time Tom Hunter adding his second of the day, showing great strength and pace to hold of the Tillingham tackles to stroke home to make it 4-3. However the visitors had not even stopped celebrating before a superb long range effort straight from the center saw the hosts draw level again. The game was now anyone's for the taking. Archie Waine made a great last ditch tackle to keep the scores, level however the hosts were awarded a free kick just outside the box. A direct strike saw Whites keeper Benjy Bacon produce a wonder save, turning the ball over the bar. From the resulting corner City broke the full length of the pitch to earn a corner of their own. A well rehearsed short routine between Jack Moss and Tom Hunter saw Moss deliver a fine ball into the box for Emmanuel Tshinene to complete his hat trick. What a game a what a great result for the Ten men of City......
