Two close games lead to silverware

Chelmsford City Clarets Under 14’s won the Essex Royals Under 14 Tournament on Saturday.

Finishing second in their group the team were pitched against Springfield FC (Hackney) who finished top of their group, winning every game with a clean sheet. The Clarets won by a goal to nil with a stunning strike from Lade Fajobi.

In the final the team lined up against the winners of our group, AFC Hornchurch (EJA), last year’s winners and victors over our team during the group stage. Again we won by a goal to nil scored by Raiyan Jawad popping up at the far post after the ball had ricocheted off the upright.

All the players put in a magnificent performance from front to back, sheer determination saw us through to lift the cup. Well done to the boys, it was thoroughly deserved.

Thanks to Essex Royals for hosting a great day.
